On November 29th, 2013 Insan Dost Association (IDA), Sahiwal Pakistan received the 6th International Bremen Peace Award in the Category of Exemplary organization for 2013 from German organization “Stiftung die Schwelle” at 6th award ceremony of Peace award held in Town Hall, Bremen City, Germany.
According to Stiftung die Schwelle, Every two years the Schwelle Foundation selects nominees for the Bremen Peace Award – “crossing thresholds – breaking vicious circles”. With this award foundation honor people and organizations that lead with a good example in their work for Peace, Justice and the Integrity of Creation

IDA is the sixth peace award winner after five organizations from different countries i.e. Germany, Bulgaria, Colombia, Nigeria and Palestine but it is first time that a Pakistani organization received this award. IDA was proposed by the Örestad Lokala Samorganisation, Malmo, Sweden.

The other two award winners are Ms. Natalia Sarapuro from Argentina and Ms and Mr von Bernstorff from Germany.
The Insan Dost Association (IDA) has been committed to helping the victims of physical, psychological and sexual abuse since 1986, especially the workers of the brick kilns. IDA encourages them to found trade unions as a possible way of liberating themselves from the shackles of slavery. As a result, 185 associations have developed over the course of the years. Several committed workers fight with increased confidence together with IDA to improve working conditions and for a state regulated minimum wage, irrespective of the violent attacks from brick kiln owners.

The awards ceremony, held every two years in the Town Hall, Germany is an important event in the Bremen City. The Bremen Peace award winners take centre stage at the awards ceremony to present their work and address the assembled audience.
