ISLAMABAD PAKISTAN (SHAMIM MASIH): A Christian girl Timar Shahzadi 14 was kidnapped and doubted she would have been raped and forcibly converted to Islam

According to Pastor Farooq Sadique, Timar Shahzadi a Christian was kidnapped in the twin city of Islamabad/Rawalpindi on 22nd October, 2012.

According to the sources, a Christian girl on Monday afternoon, with her friends, was kidnapped by some Muslim men while returning home from school.

It’s doubted that the girl could be forcefully converted to Muslim and married, if the immediate step is not taken. Her family reported the incident to the police station in Police Station Koral, Islamabad, but police have not conducted any investigation. Malik Muhammad Nawaz Sub Inspector is investigating the matter in Islamabad. The poor family cannot afford the expenses of the tribunal procedure and her father requested the higher official to take care of her daughter’s issue. He also requested the human rights and women rights organization to help him in finding her daughter.

Her father Amjid Masih told that the girl is a minor and, according to the law, marriage is not permitted to minors. “But if the kidnapper did in its powerful ways and manages to also bypass this legal measure, what is normally practice in Pakistan.

“The practice of forced conversion and forced marriage is widespread: rich and powerful Muslims take advantage, especially in rural areas and girls are victims of religious minorities.”

According to Fides Agency data, in Pakistan there are about 1,000 similar cases each year, against Christian and Hindu girls. To combat the phenomenon, widely recognized by civil authorities, the “National Commission for Religious Minorities” has prepared a draft law (see Fides 14/06/2012), that Christians support and hope that it may soon be considered by Parliament.
